Impact of female migration on gender labor gaps
Cristina ARANZANA MORENO, Léa MARCHAL, Laurine MARTINOTY

The objective of the research project is to study the effect of female migration on gender labor gaps. This question is pertinent as the focus on female migrants is not frequent and can shed light on new mechanisms. To this end, the SOEP data will be used to analyze if female migrants are complementary or substitutes of both native women and men, looking for possible heterogeneous effects. Panel data is needed to correctly study those effects through a credible identification strategy, as the impact can be strongly conditioned by individual characteristics of both native and migrant workers. This project will use the “SOEP-Core, Add-on: Area types”.
